This medicine can be taken with or without food, and the dosage will depend on your condition and response to treatment. It’s advisable to take it at the same time every day. Continue using it as directed by your doctor, even if you feel well, as stopping suddenly may increase your risk of heart attack or stroke. Since this medication contains a diuretic (water pill), it increases urination. To avoid disrupting your sleep, avoid taking it within four hours of bedtime.

The most common side effect is dizziness, with other potential effects including fatigue, nausea, shortness of breath, and changes in heartbeat. Increased urination is not a side effect but an intended effect of the medicine, helping to control blood pressure.
