Description:
Maxiflo 250 Inhaler is used to treat asthma (wheezing and shortness of breath) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (a lung condition in which the flow of air to the lungs is obstructed). It relaxes the muscles of the airways, making it easier to breathe.
- Pregnancy interaction:
- Maxiflo 250 Inhaler may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
- Side Effects:
- The most common adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, respiratory tract infection, headache, hoarseness of voice, sore throat, cough, musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, or joint) pain, and an increase in heart rate. If you get there, don't stop taking it, but consult your doctor.
- How to use:
- Before using, double-check the directions on the label. Shake your inhaler. While breathing in through your mouth, press down on the inhaler once to release the medication, then hold your breath for 10 seconds. Repeat until you have inhaled the number of puffs recommended by the doctor. Then, rinse your mouth well with water and spit it out.
- How it works:
- Maxiflo 250 Inhaler combines two medications: formoterol and fluticasone propionate. Formoterol is a long-acting bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles in the airways and expands them. Fluticasone propionate is a steroid. It acts by inhibiting the release of chemical messengers that promote inflammation (swelling) of the airways. Together, they make breathing easier.
